One of the key observances during Dhul Hijjah is the annual pilgrimage of Hajj, where believers gather in Mecca to fulfill specific rituals and seek closeness to Allah (swt). It symbolizes unity and submission to the divine will.
Within the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice. This joyous occasion commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (as) willingness to sacrifice his son and emphasizes the values of gratitude, reflection, and charity.
Dhul Hijjah is also marked by other significant dates, including Eid al Ghadeer, which commemorates the appointment of Imam Ali (as) as the successor to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and Eid al Mubahala, which remembers the event of Mubahala when the Prophet engaged in a spiritual challenge with Christians.
Additionally, we remember the martyrdom of Imam Baqir (as), a revered figure in Islamic history, during this month. His sacrifice and teachings continue to inspire Muslims worldwide.
Throughout Dhul Hijjah, it is not only about fulfilling religious obligations but also about recognizing the interconnectedness of humanity and serving Allah’s creations. Through acts of charity, compassion, and unity, we strive to draw closer to our Creator and embody the teachings of Islam.
The Zahra(s) Trust Canada is a global organization dedicated to providing year-round support to vulnerable individuals across the world. During the sacred month of Dhul Hijjah, which is filled with numerous blessed occasions, our team goes the extra mile to ensure that this time is truly special for those in need. With an abundance of opportunities for rewards, it would be a missed opportunity to let the month of Dhul Hijjah pass without extending help to those in need.
You have the power to make a difference by contributing to both immediate and long-term aid projects. Consider sponsoring a one-month family food parcel, providing a stable source of food for an entire month to a family in desperate need. Your support can bring nourishment and relief to those who require it the most.
Make this Eid a truly special occasion for underprivileged children by sponsoring the delivery of an Eid gift. These gifts will be distributed during three significant Eid celebrations: Eid al Adha, Eid Al Ghadeer, and Eid al Mubahala.
On the occasion of Eid al Ghadeer, when we celebrate the Wilaya of Amir al Mumineen (as), we also pay tribute by offering food. You can maximize the blessings of Eid al Ghadeer by engaging in one of the recommended acts, such as feeding others on this sacred day. The opportunities to serve are plentiful!
This Dhul Hijjah, seize the chance to serve Allah (swt) and humanity simultaneously. Let your actions reflect your devotion and compassion as you embrace the spirit of this blessed month.
