About The Zahra(s) Trust Canada

What does The Zahra(s) Trust Canada do?

The Zahra(s) Trust Canada is a faith-based charitable organisation providing humanitarian aid globally, so people can live self-sufficiently. Inspired by the tenets of our faith, we deliver spiritual support, food aid, educational support, water and sanitation services, and support to orphans, widows and vulnerable people.

Does The Zahra(s) Trust Canada hold Ijaza to collect Khums?

Yes. The Zahra(s) Trust Canada holds ijazas from Ayatullah Sistani, Ayatullah Basheer Hussain Najafi, Ayatullah Ishaq al-Fayadh, and Ayatullah Sayed Al-Hakim.

What regions are you currently providing aid in outside of Canada?

We are currently delivering aid across parts of Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. In emergency situations, we may also extend our support to other regions facing urgent humanitarian needs.

What are your administrative costs?

We aim to operate at the lowest possible administrative cost while maximising the efficiency of our programs for our beneficiaries. Our maximum costs are:

  • 4% for fundraising — to help raise more funds for our beneficiaries.
  • 6% for administration — to keep our projects running.

Fundraising

Can I fundraise on behalf of The Zahra(s) Trust Canada?

Yes — you can create a fundraising campaign for The Zahra(s) Trust Canada on LaunchGood. Please contact us at [email protected] if you would like to start a campaign, and we'll support you in building your page.

Can I designate my donation to a specific group of individuals or location?

We kindly ask donors not to add specifications to their donations, as we are unable to restrict aid from those in need if they do not match a specific criterion.

Will my requests in the notes section be fulfilled?

While we aim to honour the requests in the notes section as closely as possible, we cannot guarantee that every request will be fulfilled, as our priority is delivering aid to those in need. If you have a specific request, please email us at [email protected] and we will do our very best to accommodate it.

As noted above, we kindly request donors avoid restrictive specifications wherever possible.

Donations & Tax Receipts

How can I get a tax receipt for my donation?

Once your donation is complete, you will be automatically emailed a PDF tax receipt issued under the name of the card holder and billing address. Please ensure this information is the correct legal information required for your tax receipt, and check your spam folder if you do not receive it.

How will I get tax receipts for my recurring donations?

When you set up a recurring donation through our website, you will receive an initial PDF tax receipt for your first payment. After that, you will receive a tax receipt for your donations at the end of each month — please allow up to 14 business days at the start of the following month to receive it.

Can I send my donation as an e-transfer?

Yes — you can send your donation by e-transfer to [email protected]. If you would like a tax receipt, please email us at the same address after sending the transfer with your full legal name and mailing address. Tax receipts for e-transfers are issued at the end of the month — please allow 14 business days from the start of the next month.

Please note: Interac does not share your email address with us once an e-transfer is completed. If we don't receive your contact details, we will be unable to contact you or issue a tax receipt.

Can I send my donation as a bank transfer?

Yes. Please email us at [email protected] before initiating any bank transfer so we can guide you through the process. Tax receipts for bank transfers are issued at the end of the month — please allow 14 business days from the start of the following month. Without your contact details, we will be unable to issue a receipt.

How can I contribute through my employer or corporate giving programs?

Please refer to our Workplace Giving Program page for full details on matching gifts and corporate partnerships.
