Abu Al-Fadl’s Story: The quiet dignity of receiving help through illness, loss, and poverty
For Abu Al-Fadl’s family, life has been marked by hardship, yet also by extraordinary perseverance.
In their modest home, his father works long hours at a local restaurant while his mother dedicates herself to caring for their three children with remarkable strength and compassion.
At Al-Rahim Elementary School, Abu Al-Fadl approaches each day with determination.
Living with muscular dystrophy has made movement increasingly challenging, but it has not diminished his desire to learn or his hope for a brighter future.
Alongside his physical challenges, Abu Al-Fadl carries the sorrow of losing his brother Abdullah, who passed away last year from kidney failure at the same age.
The brothers once studied together, sharing the same classroom and the same dreams, until loss changed the course of their family’s life forever.
Amid these difficult circumstances, The Zahra Trust provided much-needed support.
The organization helped cover school-related expenses for Abu Al-Fadl and his siblings while also providing food hampers, clothing at the beginning of the school year, medication, and essential medical care through the Islamic clinic.
Reflecting on this support, Abu Al-Fadl’s mother says with gratitude:
“We thank everyone who helped us through our hardship. The donors who supported us were like angels during some of the hardest moments our family has faced.”
While this assistance has eased some of the family’s burdens, they continue to hope for further support to help cover Abu Al-Fadl’s treatment costs, giving him the opportunity to improve his health and continue striving toward his aspirations.
This family’s story is one of patience, faith, and resilience, a reminder that kindness can illuminate even the darkest moments.
