Today about 200 million children’s lives are at risk because they are malnourished. Beyond this, more than 30% of the world’s population face moderate or severe food insecurity.
Globally, 149.2 million children under 5, were affected by stunting in 2020 due to food insecurity, meaning they will never reach their full growth potential.
Our global food aid program works to relieve the hunger of those in need with quality food. From Yemen to Afghanistan, serving the poor, needy and displaced our food aid supports thousands of individuals in need across the globe. This food aid comes in multiple forms.
These packages contain nourishing food to sustain a family of around six members for up to one month. We source staple items of the local diet of families and distribute them to ease the burden of parents struggling to feed their households.
We provide hot, nourishing meals in local spaces such as mosques and community centres all year round but especially during the months of Ramadan for iftar and suhoor and during Muharram.
During Eid Ul Adha, as well as throughout the year, The Zahra(s) Trust Canada ensures that meat-a luxury for most people experiencing poverty, receive locally sourced, freshly slaughtered meat from a diverse range of sources. We ensure that the livestock is healthy, slaughtered correctly and packed and distributed to those most in need.
